Grounded is an architecture and urbanism studio that has been established by Chloë Phelps. The practice joins our growing group of companies with expertise in commercial, economic, placemaking and analytical capabilities, who will work together to offer a holistic approach to development and creating resilient cities.
Chloë was previously at Common Ground Architecture, a practice she established whilst working at Brick By Brick, Croydon Council’s development company.
The new practice will build on this unique blend of public and private sector experience and offer a range of services to Local Authorities, Housing Associations and Developers beyond those traditionally offered by architecture studios. Grounded will deliver characterful designs and strategies that are backed up by commercial knowledge bolstered by the expertise of the wider Place Capital Group.
Grounded has been established on the down to earth implementation experience gained delivering the Croydon Smaller Sites programme, as well as Phelps’ senior roles in the Croydon Placemaking Team and, previously, at architecture practice Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands. Bringing together her experience from each of these roles, the practice will be more than just housing experts, and will also be offering services across the master planning, workspace and hospitality sectors as well as providing quality management and delivery advice.
Grounded will continue to pioneer new ways of working and the sense of stewardship to a place and the people who live there. Over the coming months the practice plans to recruit and collaborate with other designers and continue to work on initial commissions that include a new build housing development in south west London and a workspace refurbishment/
Grounded will expand our London business which also includes specialist place making advisors, Fourth Street, that PCG acquired at the start of 2021.
