Retrofit homes
This inter-war housing estate was failing. Subsidence has led to many properties laying empty. Poor neighbourhood design creates a place that feels unsafe, unloved and desperately in need of improvement.
New public pathways that are naturally overlooked and well lit at night, improved roads, improved homes and new, low energy homes form part of this £30m plan to radically transform Whitebirk into a housing location of choice.

“It was great. It was quiet, it was clean, people were neighbourly, they were nice to get on with, and over the years, it’s just gone down hill really.”

Resident
“I’d definitely like to see something for the kids. For the small kids and older kids too. Just something for them to do or be involved in.”
Theresa & Omar
Resident

Innovative design, purposeful placemaking, and genuine end-user engagement are all at the heart of our approach.
