Place Capital Group has been selected alongside Aviva, with support from Homes England, to help deliver the next phase of regeneration at Moston Lane in Manchester.
The partnership will work with Manchester City Council to bring forward a major mixed-use proposal for the district centre, creating around 150 new homes – more than a third of which will be affordable – as well as a new public square, potential health facilities and improved space for local shops and services.
The proposals build on the Council’s 2023 framework for Moston Lane, which sets out a long-term ambition to create a safer, greener and more welcoming high street. The scheme will help unlock underused sites around the centre, providing much-needed homes while creating a new focal point for the community.
The homes are intended to include a mix of apartments and family houses, with affordable options expected to include social rent, Manchester Living Rent and Shared Ownership. Public-realm improvements are also expected to support walking, cycling, local businesses and community activity.
David Smith-Milne, Founder and CEO of Place Capital Group, said: “The regeneration of Moston is a key pillar of Manchester’s high street investment strategy and we are delighted to have been selected to play a part in that.
“With our partners Homes England and Aviva, we are looking forward to partnering with Manchester City Council to build beautiful new homes, anchored around a new public square, health facilities, improved shopping and neighbourly community-level infrastructure, including communal gardens and play facilities for children.
“Moston is an energetic, diverse and vibrant district centre in the city and our work will make it even more so.”
Subject to the usual planning and statutory processes, the project will represent a significant step forward in the ongoing renewal of Moston Lane – delivering new homes, strengthened local amenities and a place that residents and businesses can be proud of.
